MAIN GOAL
combating deforestation and forest degradation
The Nature-Based Solutions Brazil Alliance aims to promote an agenda to combat deforestation and stimulate the restoration of degraded areas, as well as the implementation of regenerative practices through the strengthening of nature-based solutions and the carbon credit market in Brazil.
Currently, the Alliance brings together 25 members, including project developers and third-sector organizations, who are responsible for over 70% of the carbon credits issued in Brazil since 2022, focusing on NBS (Nature-Based Solutions) and AFOLU (Agriculture, Forestry, and Other Land Use).
Founded in 2021, the Alliance emerged from the demand of carbon project developers operating in Brazil for a technical authority that could work to promote integrity, best market practices, and support the sector’s positive agenda.
“The carbon market is growing rapidly in Brazil, and our goal is to be a clear and reputable technical voice for the climate and nature-based solution markets, highlighting the integrity and quality of Brazilian projects in a global context,” says Janaína Dallan, president of the Brazil NBS Alliance.
The Alliance operates in three main strategic areas:
• Best Practices and Market Integrity: Focused on ensuring the quality and transparency of Brazilian projects, aligning them with the highest international standards.
• Advocacy and Public Policy: Technical and strategic collaboration with federal and state governments for the development of carbon credit markets and the strengthening of nature-based solutions.
• Awareness, Engagement, and Communication: Dissemination of relevant information through articles, media interviews, participation in events, and the organization of webinars, courses, and conferences.
